These terms apply to your use of Face Safe (the "Service"), provided by Restart Software Ltd ("we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use the Service, you agree to these terms and are contracting with Restart Software Ltd.
1. The Service
The Service detects faces and identifying details in images you upload. It lets you blur, pixelate or cover them, or replace faces with synthetic AI-generated faces, and, on paid plans, store, organise and share the protected results. To use it, you must be of legal age, or have authority to bind the organisation you represent.
2. Plans and AI image allowances
- Free: unlimited blur, pixelate and cover, plus 5 AI images a month. Downloads carry a small watermark. There is no personal library; upgrade to save, organise and share.
- Paid plans (Standard, Professional, Group & Agency): a monthly AI image allowance, a private library with folders and share links, and no watermark. Higher plans add batch upload, team users and client folders, as shown on our pricing page.
- One AI image is one AI face replacement or one advanced background scan. Unused monthly images carry over while your plan is active. Extra images can be bought at any time and never expire.
- If you turn on automatic top-up, you authorise us to buy the number of extra images you set whenever your balance falls below your chosen level, up to any monthly cap you set.
- Pausing a plan and changing plans take effect at the end of the current billing period.
3. Your account and team
Keep your login details confidential and your information accurate. You are responsible for all activity under your account. On agency accounts, the owner is responsible for the team and client users they invite and the folders they can access. Members' AI use comes out of the owner's allowance, within any limits the owner sets.
4. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the Service, including by:
- using it unlawfully, or for fraud or spam;
- uploading content you don't have the right or the required consent to use, or infringing anyone's intellectual property;
- creating deepfakes intended to deceive, sexualised content involving anyone under 18, or hateful, harassing or illegal content;
- trying to identify, re-identify or reverse a protected image;
- interfering with security, introducing malware, probing, scraping, or trying to bypass limits, watermarks or safety filters (including "jailbreaking" the AI);
- reverse engineering, reselling or redistributing the Service.
5. Your content and AI outputs
You keep ownership of images you upload and the protected images you create. You confirm that you have the right to upload each image and any consents your safeguarding and photography policies require. You give us a limited licence to host and process your content only to provide the Service.
AI detection and replacement can make mistakes: a face or identifying detail may be missed, or a result may look imperfect. Always review every image before you publish or share it. You are responsible for how you use outputs. The Service supports, but does not replace, your own safeguarding policies or professional advice.
6. Moderation and infringement
We may remove or restrict content, refuse or filter outputs, and suspend accounts that breach these terms. If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, contact us at Hello@re-start.app or via our contact page with details. We will review valid notices and act promptly. Repeated infringement will lead to termination.
7. Our intellectual property
We own the Service and all related software, documentation and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your plan.
8. Payments and subscriptions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing, tax, renewal, cancellation and refund terms are set out in Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until cancelled. Prices include VAT where applicable. See also our refund policy.
9. Service level and warranties
We work hard to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Liability
Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. You will indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You can stop using the Service, cancel, or delete your account at any time from Account. When a paid plan ends, library access stops, so download anything you want to keep first. When an account is deleted, its stored images and folders are permanently removed.
12. General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger or acquisition. We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may update these terms and will tell you about material changes. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
